Noticeboard

Current announcements, events, and opportunities in our community.

Orientation — what this is

The Gable Bench noticeboard is where we post information that matters right now: upcoming community events, local opportunities, announcements from town boards and community organizations, and invitations for participation. Unlike our main newsletter, which comes out monthly and covers broader themes, the noticeboard is updated regularly with immediate, time-sensitive information. Think of it as the community bulletin board that used to hang on the wall at the library or post office, but available to anyone online. If you're looking for what's happening this week or next, or you're trying to find out about a specific program or opportunity, check here first.

Common sticking points

How often is the noticeboard updated?

We add new announcements when they arrive from community partners and town boards—typically several times a week during busy seasons, and at least weekly year-round. Postings stay live for the duration of the event or opportunity they describe, then are archived. If you're looking for something specific and don't see it listed, it may have already concluded or moved to our archive.

Can local organizations post announcements here?

Yes. If you represent a nonprofit, town department, or community group, we're happy to hear about your events and announcements. Email us with the details—dates, times, a two-sentence description, and who to contact for questions—and we'll post it within a day or two. This is how the noticeboard stays current and useful for everyone.

I'm looking for something that was posted before. Where do I find it?

Completed events and concluded opportunities are archived by month in our newsletter archives, and searches often surface them there. If you remember roughly when it was posted, you can browse by date. We also keep a rolling list of ongoing programs—those don't expire.

Is there a way to get notified when new items are posted?

The most reliable way is to subscribe to our monthly newsletter, which includes a summary of major announcements and events for the upcoming month. You can also check back here regularly—we recommend a quick visit weekly if you want to stay in the loop about what's happening.

The detail

Every noticeboard posting includes the essential details: what's happening, when it's happening, where to find more information, and usually a contact person or organization behind it. We organize them by category—events, programs, town notices, business announcements—so you can scan for what matters to you. If a posting requires registration or advance notice, we link directly to the registration page or email contact. Our role is to gather this information from reliable sources and present it clearly, so you don't have to chase it across a dozen town and organizational websites to know what's available to you.
